About Me

My name is Julie, and I’m a photographer (…duh). My goal is to make sure that everyone has fantastic portraits of themselves. Whether you’re looking for personal or business photos, I’ll help you put your best face forward.

I’ve been a photographer since 2009, and people have always been my favorite subject. I love meeting people and hearing their stories.

I want your portrait session to be easy and fun! I know it can be tough to be in front of the camera, so I am here to help every step of the way. I will tell you exactly what to expect, how to move and pose, and I’ll make sure you don’t have a cheesy, fake smile, either.

I’ve got the equipment and the know-how to give you beautiful portraits every time. I’m a Certified Professional Photographer (through the Professional Photographers of America); I earned the Master of Photography credential from PPA and the Fellow of Photography from the Oregon PPA; and I’m fully licensed and insured.

I often work on location, though I recently got my own studio in SE Portland. I prefer making my own light, so I’m never too far from a lightstand. I might stand on a chair, or lie on the ground, or squish into a corner. I might ask you to jump, or sit in a window, or stand in a tree.

I grew up in the Seattle suburbs, spent eight years in New York City working in education, and then moved here to Portland with my husband and twin boys (they’re 12). My photography journey began with self-portraits in 2007, so I know what it’s like being on both sides of the camera! I love getting out of town: I’ve visited 29 states, and 18 countries on four continents. After my camera, my passport is one of my favorite accessories. But I love exploring closer to home, too.
