We’ve been to the coast three times in the past three months. On our September daytrip, we spent most of our time in Seaside, but came back to Cannon Beach for the sunset (mostly so I could take photos). I had an idea for a family silhouette photo, so I set up my gorillapod and remote and crossed my fingers. Here are all the photos I took (including test shots):
There was ONE good photo! And it was just about perfectly what I wanted–I was so psyched! 
I brought it into photoshop to clone out the extra people, to keep the focus on just us and the sunset. I just used the patch tool and voila!
Here is the final photo. I will surely be printing this one for the fall!
