Cobalt Studio is a fantastic photo studio here in Portland. It’s huge, it includes a ton of wardrobe and jewelry, and there are lots of backgrounds including a giant white cyc wall. (They also have a bathtub!)

For the last couple years, they hosted special collaborative nights, where they invited photographers and models and had a specific theme. This time the theme was florals. Bridge City Blooms brought a ton of flowers and floral arrangements. There were four stations, all with different looks and different florals to choose from, in addition to all the studio props and clothing of course. I ran around like a kid in a candy store, exclaiming with delight at all the different options. It was almost tough to decide what to work with!

At each station, there were rotations of two models and two photographers, and we had about 20 minutes for each station. Such a short time was difficult because I was having fun playing! 🙂 There was a dramatic, classical brown background, the bright white cyc wall, a dark gray wall, and a bright pink paper backdrop.

This night was SO MUCH FUN and exactly what I needed. The thing I like most about photography is that it’s fun and that it feels like playtime! So having wonderful people in front of the camera, beautiful props to play with, and other photographers to chat with–that’s pretty much the ideal evening in my book!
