I’m so delighted to share Allison & Kyle newborn session! You may remember their downtown maternity session that was so lovely.
I was so excited for them to have their baby! When he was two weeks old, I got to meet little Taylor Thomas (named for both of his grandfathers!). He had such a sweet little face, and what looked to be strawberry blond peach fuzz hair, and new parents who were tired but glowing and happy.
We did the session at home, where they were comfortable in their own environment. I made sure to capture the nursery details–little things like the basket near the changing table, the beautiful book shelf displays, Taylor with dad’s Timbers scarf, and both parents feeding and snuggling baby in the glider. Small parts of life that right now are commonplace and everyday, but soon enough things will change, new books will rotate in, diapers and clothes will get bigger and bigger, and these early days will only be a blur.
After the nursery, we did a few photos of the new family on the living room couch, where they spend a lot of time together. A little cheek tickle prompted a few smiles! I’m pretty sure I choked up a bit–new baby grins are so precious. Then we moved into the kitchen for more parent and family portraits. One of Taylor’s ears had been folded in utero, and still had a fold mark at the top. Allison loved this little quirk and knew it would be temporary, so we made sure to feature the special ear in some of the photos. 🙂 Again, these tiny sleepy moments are so fleeting, and photos during this time are priceless.
I think you’ll agree that little Taylor is an adorable baby. He is such a lucky little boy too; Allison and Kyle are wonderful people and they are wonderful parents! I loved working with them over the course of several months, and it’s been delightful seeing their family grow. I’m so happy for them!
Thank you so much, Allison, Kyle & Taylor, for allowing me to share some of your special family time this year! What a privilege.
