I think I’ve mentioned here before what a privilege it is taking all of my clients’ family photos, and how much more of an honor it is to photograph friends. So this is a special session to share for several reasons!
Tania and Loc live in New York City. I met her in 2010, through mutual friends, and we’ve been friends ever since. They had recently finished renovating their beautiful Park Slope apartment when we moved away. Their son Conor was born after we moved to Portland, so I was excited to finally meet him in person this summer! Isn’t he adorable?!
The other reason this session was so special was because it was the first time Tania and her family (her parents, sister, brother and sister in law) had all been together since Conor was born. They flew in to the Pacific Northwest from all parts of the globe, for a family reunion in Seattle. Then they made their way down to Portland where they explored just some of the fun activities and good food that our city offers.
First, please notice how incredibly stylish and lovely this whole family is! Then, the locations: We split our session into two parts; first up was the Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden. The second half was at their hotel, The Nines, right on Pioneer Courthouse Square. It has an incredible atrium that is filled with great light and interesting furniture (plus it wasn’t hot like the outdoors!), so it made for a perfect place to explore and take more photos.
Conor was about a year and a half, and he was a bit stoic at times, exploring and taking in the sights. But we got some super-cute smiles too! He was really intrigued by all the ducks and geese. (The geese are EVERYWHERE there, and they are quite assertive.) He kept pointing and saying, “wo-wo” — he uses the doggy-barking sound to identify all animals, which is just too cute. 🙂
Thank you so much, Tania and family! So wonderful to see you all!
