This Lake Oswego extended family photography session was a special one, filled with so much happiness and so many smiles! I can’t help smiling myself–these were such lovely people to work with.
Yukie and Jeffrey have adorable fraternal twin girls, Katie and Lexie. They were 7 months old at this session, and of course at that age, they were far more interested in the grass than a camera, if mom and dad weren’t right there. Don’t they have such big eyes and huge happy grins? We employed snacks and some silly kid songs to elicit some of those grins. (I also have a bag of toys to entice kids of all ages.)
So why was this session special? Yukie’s extended family had all come into town to spend a week together. Her brothers brought their families: Mike and Erin with their kids, age three and one came in from Georgia, and Jesse and his girlfriend Christina live in California. The girls had already spent time with their grandparents, but this visit was actually the first time that the uncles had met their twin nieces in person! Isn’t that wonderful, to commemorate that with a fun photo session? It was certainly an honor for me to be there with them. It’s always heartwarming to see babies and kids play with their relatives, and watch that familial bond strengthen and grow.
They live in SE Portland, but we met at George Rogers Park in Lake Oswego. This park has a ton going on–grassy picnic areas, a historic iron forge made of beautiful brick, flowered paths, AND a small sandy beach! We explored most of those areas during our session together (it’s always good to keep moving, especially with small children around.) I had a grand time playing with the kids, photographing these families. You can really feel the love through these photos!
